  • il y a 2 ans
HINO TEAM SUGAWARA, which is based in Tokyo, Japan and has won back-to-back Dakar Rally championships in the Under 10-liter class, has developed its first hybrid-powered race-truck for the Dakar Rally 2022 at Hino Motors, a well-established commercial hybrid manufacturer.
Hino Motors is a pioneer in the field of commercial hybrids, having started mass production of hybrids in 1991, the same year they first participated to the Dakar Rally, and has a 30-year history in the field. Hino has been a pioneer in the field of commercial hybrids for the past 30 years, and its lineup of hybrid vehicles includes large, medium, and small trucks, as well as sightseeing, route, and articulated buses. The company is now developing the next-generation vehicles (BEV, FCEV, etc.) in the field of mass-produced vehicles, utilizing the technologies cultivated through hybridization.
This time, the hybrid technology of Hino Motors was brought to the race truck. This machine is designed to emphasize power-to-weight ratio, and the on-board race hybrid will use regenerative and power generation energy obtained during deceleration and steady-state driving to output (assist) during acceleration to shorten the race time. Although the hybrid-equipped truck is not yet complete, it is expected to become a driving force for sustainable racing as it continues to mature, especially the hybrid system.
