Archbishop Desmond Tutu Dies Aged 90, World Mourns Anti-Apartheid Leader

Desmond Tutu, South African anti-apartheid icon, died on Sunday, December 26. Cyril Ramaphosa, South African President, announced the death of the 90-year-old Tutu. President Cyril Ramaphosa tweeted, “Desmond Tutu was a patriot without equal; a leader of principle and pragmatism who gave meaning to the biblical insight that faith without works is dead.” Desmond Tutu won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984. Former President of The United States, Barack Obama tweeted, “Archbishop Desmond Tutu was a mentor, a friend, and a moral compass for me and so many others.” Queen Elizabeth said, “I am joined by the whole Royal Family in being deeply saddened by the news of the death of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, a man who tirelessly championed human rights in South Africa and across the world.” Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi tweeted, “He was a champion of the anti-apartheid movement and a Gandhian.” PM Modi said, “I am deeply saddened by his demise.” Watch the video to know more.
