The United Kingdom has reported a record number of daily Covid-19 cases as the Omicron variant fuels a surge in infections across the country. England's chief medical officer Chris Whitty advised: "Don't mix with people you don't have to for either work or for family things." He urged people to prioritise the events which "really matter to them".
