Ahead of the 2022 Goa Assembly elections, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on December 14 urged opposition parties to unite and defeat Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Goa. “We want BJP to end in Goa. I didn't come to counter you, I don't want outsiders to control Goa... I also belong to a Brahmin family, I am a Brahmin. I don't need to take a character certificate from BJP,” she added.
