NDPS Amendment Bill Causes Fresh Uproar In Parliament As Opposition Charges Modi Govt Of Retrospectively Changing A Criminal Law

A bill which pursues to correct an anomaly in the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was moved for consideration and passage in Lok Sabha. Nirmala Sitharaman, Finance Minister said the amendments proposed only seek to correct certain clerical errors. Sitharaman said the bill has a very limited purpose and aims to achieve nothing more. Bhartruhari Mahtab, BJD member, opposed the bill. He said, “You are making another mistake to correct a mistake committed in the past. It will be challenged in the court of law.” Congress leaders Manish Tiwari & Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury also raised objections. Watch the video to know more.
