Taiwan’s Datan algal reef, one of the world’s largest shallow sea biotic reefs, is under threat of being developed into a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal. At most terminals, ships can berth their tankers, store LNG in cryogenic tanks, regasify LNG or send out gas into the transmission grid.
