Dawid Malan and Joe Root stitched an unbeaten partnership of 159 to bail England out of trouble on day three of the first Ashes Test. After Australia 425, England were trailing by 278 but Malan and Root brought down the deficit to 58. While Root scored unbeaten 86 Malan ended the day not out on 80.
