The Silverline project, which is the LDF government’s pet project, has been in the works for 12 years now. It is a semi-high speed rail corridor from Thiruvananthapuram in the south of Kerala to Kasaragod in the north. But many have opposed the project, raising environmental, financial and social impact concerns.

TNM’s Anna Isaac explains the controversy surrounding the project and looks at why Pinarayi Vijayan is pushing so strongly for Silverline.
