Shiv Sena's Sanjay Raut Meets Rahul Gandhi, Says Wants To Unite The Opposition
  • 2 years ago
On December 7, Shiv Sena’s senior leader, Sanjay Raut met senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Shiv Sena has extended its support to the Congress party. Recently, during her visit to Mumbai, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had said, “There is no UPA.” This was an attack on the Congress as it heads the United Progressive Alliance (UPA). After his meeting with Rahul Gandhi, Sanjay Raut told reporters that the Congress leader should lead from the front. When asked if the Shiv Sena would join the UPA, Raut said he would first meet Uddhav Thackeray and only then answer this question. Congress and Shiv Sena along with Sharad Pawar’s NCP are part of the ruling alliance in Maharashtra. But while Shiv Sena has openly shown its support for Congress, Pawar has remained silent.
