Beijing residents react to US diplomatic boycott of Winter Olympics

"I think America is disrespecting athletes," says one Beijing resident while another asks: "Sports is sports. How is it connected to politics?"

Beijing residents at the Olympic Park share their opinions about the United States announcing a diplomatic boycott of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics to protest China's human rights record, particularly its handling of Muslim minorities that Washington considers a form of genocide.

Under the boycott, the Biden administration will not send any US diplomatic or official governmental representatives to the Games.
