In view of the emergence of the Covid-19 variant Omicron, Ashoka University’s Professor of Physics and Biology, Gautam Menon said that booster dose is really a priority for people who have been vaccinated early on, like health workers. It's important for people above 60 who may have comorbidities.

“I think booster dose is really a priority for people who have been vaccinated early on, like health workers. It's important for people above 60 who may have comorbidities. But for the rest of the population, one could wait. I think the priority is to vaccinate with 1 and 2 doses as large a population as possible. We get to levels of 80-90% of a double vaccination population should be our priority. We can approach ques of the booster at a later point,” said Menon.
