Bogota airport authorities confiscate 232 tarantulas

Ampliffy

Controllers at an airport in Bogotá, Colombia, have confiscated more than 200 spiders, beetles and a female scorpion with her young. Two German citizens tried to board these protected specimens on the plane back to their country for academic purposes.

It is common for these animals to try to be imported illegally to Europe or Asia as part of the illegal trafficking of wild animals, so the controls are very strict in all Latin American countries.
