Assisted Reproductive Technology Bill In Parliament, MPs Debate Who Should be Allowed Access to IVF, Other Procedures, For Conception

On December 1, Lok Sabha passed a bill to regulate and supervise assisted reproductive technology clinics I.e. centres that provide Invitro-Fertilization (IVF) services to Infertile couples. Several members urged the government not to exclude single parents from being able to access this procedure. They urged the government not to exclude the LGBTQ community from using this procedure. N K Premachandran from RSP, raised the point of order on a matter associated with the bill being dependent on another (surrogacy) bill. Navneet Rana quotes Kriti Sanon’s movie 'Mimi' says that commercial surrogacy is banned. The Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Bill was passed by a voice vote.
