Covid new variant spreads rapidly in Africa, alert in India

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has designated B.1.1529 as a ‘variant of concern’. The variant of SARS-CoV-2, first detected in Africa’s Botswana, has been named Omicron. The WHO in a statement said that the Technical Advisory Group on SARS-CoV-2 Virus Evolution (TAG-VE), an independent group of experts that periodically monitors and evaluates the evolution of SARS-CoV-2 and named it 'Omicron'. As a result, an alert has been raised in many countries including India whereas six countries have banned flights from African countries. Watch this video for detailed information.
