Around 1,000 homes earmarked for construction across Canterbury have not yet been built despite government demands.

The authority's Local Plan predicted work at all 14 of the largest sites would have begun by the start of April but so far, just 7 of the developments have been given the green light.

Councillors have now labelled the housing targets as unrealistic.
