After Jinnah, Nehru takes centre stage in UP poll slugfest
  • 2 years ago
With the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections closing in, every political party is seen playing all kinds of gimmicks to try and turn the results in its favor. While Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday compared Pakistan's founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah with Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Bharatiya Janata Party later slammed him for his statement. Now, after the mention of Jinnah in the election battle of Uttar Pradesh, Nehru's entry has taken place, Kashmir, independence and Taliban have been mentioned with Nehru's entry. Akhilesh Yadav's statement equating Muhammad Ali Jinnah with Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Sardar Patel has brought in a free-for-all political slugfest. There is a need to understand these politics because if the Samajwadi Party is thinking of polarizing Muslim votes in the name of Jinnah, then it is obvious that in the name of Jinnah, the BJP also sees the benefit.
