Kangana Ranaut's 'Azaadi Bheek Mein Mili' Remark: Congress Calls It Treason, Varun Gandhi Asks 'Madness Or Seditious'

Another controversy concerning Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut is making headlines. The Queen actor’s comment that India won true independence in 2014 - when Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power & the 1947 Independence was \"bheekh\" or charity has drawn sharp criticism from the Congress party. Anand Sharma, Congress leader, said on Twitter, “Shocking and outrageous.” He also said that the President of India should take back the Padma award given to Ranaut. The official twitter handle of All India Mahila Congress tweeted, “We demand her Padma Shri award be immediately recalled.” Gourav Vallabh, Congress party spokesperson tweeted, “Kangana Ranaut's statement show’s what happens when people who are not deserving of Padma awards are given these honours.” At an event organised by television channel Times Now, Kangana Ranaut said, “That was not freedom but 'bheekh', real freedom came in 2014.” Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Preeti Sharma Menon submitted an application to the Mumbai Police requesting action on Kangana Ranaut for her seditious and inflammatory statements.
