A far North Queensland woman has become one of the highest ranking indigenous soldiers in the country.

Lieutenant Colonel Eileen hall returned to her home country of Wujal Wujal for a special ceremony to mark her promotion and says she hopes to inspire both women and first nations people to pursue a career in the military.
