Anil Deshmukh, Former Maharashtra Home Minister, Arrested By ED In Money Laundering Case

Anil Deshmukh, Maharashtra's former Home Minister has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Deshmukh was arrested after more than 12 hours of questioning, late on November 1. Deshmukh was grilled at the ED office in Mumbai in connection with a money laundering case. Earlier this year, Deshmukh had to step down from his position amid a controversy over bribery allegations against him. On October 29, the politician was denied relief by the Bombay High Court as he appealed for the cancellation of the summons by ED. On November 1, Anil Deshmukh had said that all the allegations against him are false. The 71-year-old NCP leader was accused of corruption by ex-Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh.
