World’s largest climate conference, the United Nations climate change conference is also known as ‘COP’. COP is an annual summit under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). COP is a global agreement signed in 1992, between almost 200 countries. Over the years, COP has become a place for countries to dedicate resources to slow down global warming and climate change. COP26 stands for the 26th Conference of Parties to the UNFCCC. The United Kingdom, partnering with Italy, is hosting COP26 in Glasgow, Scotland. The Glasgow gathering runs to November 12. COP26 President Alok Sharma said the window to keep within the 1.5 degree warming target is closing. A group of activists stood up and condemned the UK Government's support of the Cambo oil field. Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg also arrived in the Scottish city. Watch the video to know more.
