पति की लंबी उम्र के लिए करवा चौथ का निर्जला व्रत रखने के बाद माताएं अपनी संतान के लिए अहोई अष्टमी का निर्जला व्रत रखती हैं. यह व्रत कार्तिक महीने के कृष्ण पक्ष की अष्टमी को रखा जाता है. इस साल यह व्रत 28 अक्टूबर 2021 को है. यह व्रत संतान की उन्नति, अच्‍छी सेहत, लंबी उम्र और उसकी सुख-समृद्धि के लिए रखा जाता है. यह व्रत रात में आसमान में तारे देखने के बाद खोला जाता है.
