The Central Government has increased BSF's authority in Punjab to 50 km of the International Border. The Punjab government is not happy with this decision. Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi called it interference in the state's jurisdiction. Punjab Home Minister and Deputy CM Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa have also raised questions about it.
