Delhi witnesses sudden surge in dengue cases

Amid the rising cases of dengue in Delhi, Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital Medical Director Dr Suresh Kumar on October 12 said that numerous cases have been reported at the hospital in the last 8-10 days.

“15 patients are admitted to our hospital who are dengue NS1 positive. Along with them, there are 15 patients whose reports are awaited. Certainly, the cases of dengue have been increased. It could have two to three reasons. There has been a rise in dengue cases due to prolonged monsoon period and different transmission cycles of mosquitoes,” Dr Kumar said.

A total of 480 dengue cases were recorded this season till October 9, as per the civic report on vector-borne diseases released on October 11, the national capital reported the highest number of dengue cases since 2018 for the same period.
