Supply Shortage Strikes U.S. Harvest
Farmers and suppliers across the Midwest are concerned about supply shortages for the Spring 2022 harvest. Dale Hadden, a farmer in Illinois can’t get tires for his combine—he told employees to stay off the shoulder to avoid metal objects. New Ag Supply in Kansas wants customers to place orders now, knowing that supply chain issues could delay delivery. In Iowa, farmer Cordt Holub said, “You try to baby your equipment, but we’re all at the mercy of luck right now.” On these fears, Deere & Co. ($DE@US) stock dropped over $10 in early trading while Caterpillar Inc ($CAT@US) stock dropped 1.16%.
