Before the assembly elections, Uttarakhand BJP has suffered a major setback. Yashpal Arya, the cabinet minister of the Uttarakhand government, and his MLA son Sanjeev Arya have left the BJP and joined the Congress. Yashpal and son Sanjeev Arya had joined the BJP ahead of the 2017 assembly elections from the Congress.

विधानसभा चुनाव से पहले उत्तराखंड बीजेपी को बड़ा झटका लगा है. उत्तराखंड सरकार के कैबिनेट मंत्री यशपाल आर्य और उनके विधायक बेटे संजीव आर्य ने बीजेपी का दामन छोड़कर कांग्रेस में शामिल हो गए हैं. यशपाल और बेटे संजीव आर्य कांग्रेस से 2017 विधानसभा चुनाव के पहले भाजपा में शामिल हुए थे.
