Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, architect of Pakistan's nuclear programme, died on October 10. 85-year-old Khan was brought to the hospital on October 9 night after his health deteriorated, reported Geo News. Reportedly, Khan died at the hospital after his lungs collapsed, severely damaged by Covid-19 infection. He contracted the disease last month. He was revered in Pakistan as the “father” of the country’s “atom bomb” & as a national hero for making Pakistan a nuclear power. Imran Khan, Pakistan Prime Minister tweeted, “Deeply saddened by the passing of Dr A Q Khan. He was loved by our nation because of his critical contribution in making us a nuclear weapon state.” Parvez Khattak, Pakistan Defence Minister tweeted, “Great loss!
