Stagflation Keeps Markets Down
Investors around the world saw stocks remain uneven as higher inflation, supply issues and the Evergrance problem hampered global economic recovery. Stock markets were hitting 2 and a half month lows to end September, and Treasury yields jumped 20 basis points. Evergrande ($EGRNF@China) trading has been suspended, and the firm missed interest payments on offshore debt yet again. A pan-European equity index returned to level, Hong Long lost 2.7% and the Nikkei lost 1%. Additionally, the PCE price index rose 3.6% and Euro Zone inflation, as previously reported, rose to 13-year highs.
