Five stories you need to know for September 16, 2021: China blasts U.S., UK, Australia security alliance, Biden supports General Mark Milley, Gymnasts condemn FBI and U.S. Olympic Committee, France kills ISGS head, Capitol fence

1. A new security partnership has been established between the U.S., Britain and Australia, which will provide Australia with capabilities to deploy nuclear-powered submarines. While none of the leaders the initiative, dubbed "AUKUS," mentioned China - Beijing denounced the alliance warning of an intensified arms race in the region.

2. President Joe Biden shows support for the top U.S. military officer Mark Milley after a book said he placed ‘secret calls’ to China.

3. Simone Biles says the U.S. Olympic Committee and FBI failed to stop the sexual abuse that she and hundreds of other athletes suffered from former doctor Larry Nassar. McKayla Maroney and Ally Raisman also testified about their traumatic experience. FBI Director Chris Wray made no excuses and said the bureau had fired one of the agents who had falsified the details of Maroney's 2015 interview about the abuse.

4. France's President Emmanuel Macron says French forces killed the leader of the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara, Adnan Abu Walid al-Sahrawi.

5. Workers began installing a fence around the U.S. Capitol ahead of a protest on Sept. 18 in support of the defendants being prosecuted for their actions at the U.S. Capitol last January 6. Capitol police asked the National Guard to be ready to help with security if needed.
