People wait to receive IAF Wing Commander Ahinandan at Attari-Wagah border

ttari Border (Amritsar), Mar 1: As Indian Air Force’s (IAF) Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman will be released today by Pakistan, the Indian people from nearby areas of the Attari-Wagah have reached the border area to welcome him and have been waiting since early morning. A large number of security personnel have also been deployed in the area to maintain law and order situation. Abhinandan was captured by Pakistan on Wednesday after his aircraft was shot down. He was flying a MiG-21 Boston fighter plane and chasing Pakistani jets, which transgressed into Jammu and Kashmir and crossed over to PoK and his aircraft was shot down. He was kept in the custody of Pakistani Army. On Thursday, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan announced Abhinandan’s release and stated it to be as a peace gesture of Pakistan.
