Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday laid the foundation stone of Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh State University in Aligarh. PM Modi also inspected exhibition models of the Aligarh node of the Uttar Pradesh industrial defence corridor. The government's decision to set up the university after the noted Jat figure is being seen as part of BJP's bid to win over the disgruntled community ahead of the assembly polls in the state early next year.
