Exploring solutions to SA's energy crisis

Given the constant nights in the dark due to load-shedding, failing power stations and corruption within the embattled power utility Eskom, how much longer before we find ourselves in the dark ages for good? Now keeping in mind, a fire broke out an a station in Mpumalanga just this weekend. The economy suffered a crippling blow when we ran out of electricity in 2007.
