Priyanka Gandhi visits Hanuman temple in Rae Bareli

During the 2014 general elections and in subsequent polls, the BJP had prominently played up the Ram Janmbhoomi issue to garner support. The poll strategy paid dividends, the saffron party was voted to power in 2014, as well as in the 2017 Uttar Pradesh assembly election and the 2019 Lok Sabha race. Now, in a curious twist, a priest at a Hanuman temple in UP says he is praying for a Congress victory in the upcoming legislative assembly polls. When Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra visited the Hanuman temple in Churuva on the Lucknow-Rae Bareli border Sunday, head priest Anup Awasthi told her that Uttar Pradesh is in need of the Congress party.
