Locals, groups oppose Boracay casino project | The Final Word

In 2018, President Duterte called Boracay island a cesspool and ordered its 6-month shutdown to make way for its rehabilitation.
A casino ban was declared thereafter.
Last week, the chief executive made a U-turn and lifted the ban on the entry of new casinos in a bid to generate revenues that will help the government augment its funds during the health crisis.
This led Boracay locals and environment groups to gather forces and oppose the project again.
