Afghan Citizens Rush To Airport
Thousands of Afghan citizens rushed to Kabul’s airport in an effort to flee the country as the Taliban took control. The U.S. is sending in as many as 6,000 service members to help evacuate Western diplomats still in the country. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani fled the country on Sunday evening, reportedly to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, as the Taliban entered the presidential palace and said that the war is “over. ” Many people throughout the world are shocked at how easily the Taliban has been able to seize control of the country, just months after the U.S. began its planned withdrawal of troops.
