Five States Set Covid Case Records
As the delta variant spreads throughout the country, Florida, Louisiana, Hawaii, Oregon, and Mississippi all hit new seven-day average highs. Per capita, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Florida are suffering the three worst outbreaks. Louisiana recorded an average of 126 cases per 100,000 residents as of Sunday, more than three times the national average. Mississippi and Florida averaged 110 and 101 cases per 100,000 residents, respectively. Louisiana also issued a statewide mask mandate on August 2, and everyone, regardless of their vaccination status, must wear a mask indoors. This includes students from kindergarten through college.
