iPhone 13 To Feature Satellite Connectivity
  • 3 years ago
Apple's ($AAPL@US) iPhone 13 will feature satellite communication connectivity that will allow users to make calls and send texts in areas without cellular coverage. The new handset will include hardware that will enable it to tap low Earth orbit satellites, staying connected in the regions that lack 4G or 5G coverage. The iPhone 13 is expected to use the Qualcomm ($QCOM@US) X60 baseband chip, which reportedly supports satellite communications. This could make the iPhone more attractive to consumers who live in or travel to areas without reliable cellular service. The new iPhone is expected to debut in September. It’s rumored to include other features such as an upgraded design with a smaller notch, a thicker camera bump, and a collection of new color options like bubblegum pink, matte black, and sunset gold.
