As people swarmed the Kabul airport in the hopes of catching a flight out of the country, gunshots were heard outside the Hamid Karzai International airport on Saturday afternoon. 

The Taliban militants were seen open firing to prevent civilians from fleeing the country, while Afghan nationals scurried to avoid being caught in the crossfire. 

In addition to the repeated gunfire, coloured smoke was also seen at the airport amid the pandemonium.
