Five Killed In Dima Hasao, Assam As Militants Target Trucks Carrying Coal, Set Them Ablaze

Five people were killed in Assam's Dima Hasao district near Diyungbra late on August 26. Trucks were attacked late on August 26 by members of the Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA), reported NDTV. The Assam police, as per a NDTV report said the terrorists fired many rounds at the truck drivers and other people before setting seven of the trucks on fire. The trucks were carrying coal and other material for a nearby cement manufacturing plant. This attack came two days before Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) runs a special train that will be equipped with Vistadome coaches. With this attack, questions have been raised over the safety of the train. Dima Hasao district is one of Assam's three hill districts. It was earlier a hotbed of insurgent activities and groups.
