What is Govt's National Monetization Pipeline Program?

The National Monetisation Pipeline (NMP) is the Government of India's pioneering initiative to establish a medium-term pipeline along with a roadmap for monetization-ready assets. It provides visibility on the volume of assets to be monetized and the potential value that can be unlocked. The target is to earn 1.5 lakh crore rupees in four years by leasing one thousand four hundred kilometers of railway tracks including 400 stations, 90 passenger trains. There is also a plan to raise Rs 45 thousand 200 crores by giving some part of the power distribution sector on rent to private hands. A plan has been made to give 39 thousand crore rupees by giving some assets of the power generation department to the private sector. Watch this video.
