Tony Finau lifts Northern Trust title after playoff win over Cameron Smith

1975 days after his last victory on the PGA Tour, Tony Finau once again tasted success - though Cameron Smith didn't make it easy for him.

After horrendous weather extinguished any hopes of play Sunday, Finau lifted the Northern Trust title - though he needed a sudden-death play-off hole to rid himself of the challenge of the Australian.

Both men finished on 20-under-par 264 totals - though for much of the day the win looked to be heading in the direction of Jon Rahm.

But the Spanish world number one had an increasingly shaky back nine to slip into third, two shots adrift of the leaders. Sweden's Alex Noren was fourth.

And as for Jordan Spieth - triple-bogey 7s at nine and ten made Monday a day to forget
