During a Heat Wave.
1. Wear loose-fitting clothes that
have light colors, which reflect heat.
2. Refrain from alcohol as
it dehydrates you faster.
3. Likewise, also avoid beverages
that have caffeine or sugar.
4. Consume water and drinks that replenish the
body's electrolytes, such as low-sugar sports drinks.
5. Do not wait until you are thirsty to drink either, stay hydrated throughout the day.
6. Take cold showers to
lower your body temperature.
7. Eat light meals that have
lean protein, as well as
vegetables and fruits.
8. At the hottest point of the day, make sure you
are not exerting yourself physically outside.
9. When the heatwave reaches its strongest point,
stay indoors around an air-conditioned space.
10. Be aware of heat exhaustion and
heatstroke symptoms should you or
someone else becomes affected.
11. If you have activity plans, schedule them
later in the day when the temperature has fallen
