Afghanistan's last free citadel: Panjshir resists Taliban charge
  • 3 years ago
A little over 100 kms away from Kabul, the province of Panjshir is resisting the Taliban incursion that has swept through all of Afghanistan. Panjshir, which translates to Five Lions from Persia, has never been conquered, either by foreigners or the Afghans and is the only province out of the 34 that is free from the Taliban. This picturesque valley is where Afghanistan’s former vice-president Amrulla Saleh is currently located and devising a resistance front against the Taliban.
