Odisha Police DG Abhay on Thursday inaugurated a new building of state forensic science laboratory. With cyber crimes rising, the role of forensic has also increased in dealing with cases, which is why two new labs including a cyber forensic lab and a DNA lab would be set-up. All the seven divisions of forensic including lie detection, Physics, cyber forensic, ballistic, Biology, Serology, Chemistry labs have already been shifted to the building. According to DGP Abhay, the cyber forensic lab is necessary for curbing cyber crime which has increased manifold in the state. The DGP also said that that DNA lab will also assist in cases of sex offences. The DGP informed that the two labs will be functional in the next 4-5 weeks.
