Diamond workers from Surat city demanded a hike in their salaries. According to the workers the diamond industry is going through a good phase. Surat Diamond Workers Union vice president Bhavesh Tank said, “Despite high demand for polished diamonds in international l market, workers' demand for salary hike has been overlooked. There's a shortage of over 1,25,000 workers”.
