In his monthly 'Mann ki Baat' address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked the citizens to promote local handloom manufacturing. Ahead of the National Handlooms Day on August 7, PM Modi encouraged people to be 'Vocal for the Local'. He said that "Whenever, wherever you purchase a Khadi product, it does benefit our poor weaver brothers and sisters. That is why, in a way, buying Khadi is a service to people, a service to the country. I urge you all to make it a point to buy Handloom products being made in rural areas and share them on #MyHandloomMyPride."
