Heavy rains continue to lash parts of Maharashtra

Several parts of Maharashtra received intense rainfall on July 22 leading to overflowing of rivers in regions such as Ratnagiri, Konkan and Raigad. The India Meteorological Department has issued a red warning for Raigad, Ratnagiri, Pune and Satara districts, predicting extremely heavy rain in the areas. On July 22, state Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray held an emergency meeting to stock of the flood situation in Ratnagiri and Raigad districts. Prime Minister Modi also assured all possible help from Centre to mitigate the situation. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has also deployed rescue teams in Maharashtra.
