Sarlat-la-Caneda

In the "Black Périgord", where much forest grows and castles watch over the Dordogne, lies Sarlat-la-Canéda.

During the Middle Ages, Sarlat grew larger and richer and became an important trading center. Many houses from this period were built by rich merchants. The 100-year war with the English took place right on the doorstep - the border between England and France - and thus the front line was only about 7 km away.

Interesting corners and historical details are shown to us by Katia Veyret of Sarlat Tourisme.

Truffles, foie gras, mushrooms and morels, nuts, candied meats and and ... are some of the finest gastronomic specialties.

Sarlat-la-Canéda was a rich commercial metropolis. What it was like for the pepper sacks at home can also be seen here.

Strolling through Sarlat during the day is beautiful. In the evening and at night, when the gas lanterns burn, this city becomes timeless.
