The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on July 15 slammed Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh Government over population control bill.“As per year 2000 population policy, TFR has reduced from 3.2% to 2.2% in 2018, without incentives. In Dec 2020, Centre in an affidavit mentioned that international experience shows that any coercion to have no. of children is counterproductive,” said Owaisi.

“In Dec 2020 affidavit, Modi government had said that due to declining Total Fertility Rate (TFR), there cannot be a two-child policy in the country. Yogi government, on the other hand, is opposing it,” he added.
