kis musarrat se pahunche the ham bazm mein
rooh ki tishnagi ko chupaaye hue
saakiya daur aaya chala bhi gaya
aur hum reh gaye jaam uthaaye hue

kyun nazar pher li mujhse mere sanam
chupke baithe ho kyun dil churaye hue
ek muddat hui tumko dekha nahi
ik zamaana hua muskuraaye hue

maut bimaar e gham ko ab aane ko hai
choro ab is nidaamat se kya faayda
aakhiri waqt hai hasn ke rukhsat karo
dekho baitho na yun sar jhukaye hue

phool ki zindagi ik tabassum sahi
ye tabassum bhi har ik ko milta nahi
ham ko dekho ke ham hain chaman mein magar
ik zamaana hua muskuraaye hue

shamma bujhne ko hai chaand chupne ko hai
raat dhalne ko hai dil nikalne ko hai
ab to aaja sanam kabse baithe hain ham
apni palkon pe taare sajaaye hue
