The New South Wales Premier warned we'd see numbers in the hundreds and that's exactly what we've seen today. The spread of the highly contagious Delta strain of COVID-19 is escalating rapidly. From 77 cases yesterday, it's jumped to 112 new local cases. Forty-eight of those cases are unlinked and at least thirty-four of those were infectious in the community and the isolation status of 18 cases is under investigation. Alarmingly, that means up to 52 people were infectious in the community. Overall, 63 COVID patients are in hospital, with 18 in intensive care and four on ventilators.
